The interesting thing about the Kos response -- and the conventional-wisdom pwog response in general -- is that it takes two contradictory lines of argument, often in the same post, and even in the same sentence:
1) Nader's campaign is silly, because he won't get any votes.
2) Nader's campaign is "irresponsible" because he might -- yet again -- spoil things for the Democrats.
I wasn't on the scene at all, yer Honor! And besides, it was an accident -- and the other fella started it!

Since I've been on a Phil K. Dick kick lately, it reminds me of the VALIS theophany: "There is no God, and besides, he's stupid."

GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!! Two and half pages of threads. These people are obsessed. I randomly picked one by the title of "Nader's gift to Obama". Its author smugly welcomes Nader's campaign, averring his attacks would boost Obama's centrist credentials and thus help him. While that is striking enough in its ridiculousness, this following line betrays the kind of profound idiocy that surely characterizes all the other threads:
"Nader implies he never claimed Bush and Gore were indistinguishable in 2000. That's a lie, of course. Nader's most famous soundbite from the 2000 election was:
On the real, important issues of corporate power, the only difference between Gore and Bush is the velocity with which their knees hit the floor when big corporations knock on their door."
Ummm hmm that sounds like he admitted they were distinguishable on some issues...just not on IMPORTANT ONES!!!
It's true that here is no point in trying to disabuse kosnicks of their multitudinous misconceptions. After all, as Jonathan Swift once remarked, you can't reason a man out of a position her didn't reason himself into in the first place...
