"Pietro Ichino, a professor of labor law at the University of Milan and a senator in the Italian legislature, is known as the author of several “neoliberal” books and studies recommending that the Italian government relax its extraordinarily stringent regulation of employers’ hiring and firing decisions."
"..... that means that Prof. Ichino must fear for his life ...he's not just being alarmist.
In 1999 and 2002 leftist gunmen associated with the Red Brigades
murdered two other reformist labor law professors, Massimo D’Antona and Mario Biagi"

Ah..."reformist" professors.
Fight the Good Fight, professor. I'm sure The Owners can find a good sinecure for you in a more secure place.
(Note...I really don't particularly like armed gangs gunning people down. For one thing, the right wingers are usually better armed, and racial and religious fanaticism is usually more inspiring than vague Marxist cant. Can you imagine someone being inspired to violence by op's convoluted nursery rhymes?
I know, I know, I am just a comfortable bourgeoise.)

I like this. Wish there were more of it. "Ideas have consequences," as some Very Serious Douchebag Big Thinker once said, probably on a Sun morn talk show.
Viva Italia! Best we can muster here are green pies in Tom Friedman's face.

Yeah. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Larry Summers had to disguise himself in women's clothing, like Achilles trying to dodge the Trojan War draft?
