Totentanz

Being a bit of an antiquarian(*) myself, I was quite delighted with this image, passed along by a kind reader. I was particularly pleased to see the banker playing a rauschpfeife -- not, please note, a krummhorn. These terms are slung around with gay abandon in a very irresponsible way.

(*) Name the very obscure movie alluded to here. Owen, you are disqualified.

Jeez, I want to say The Seventh Seal, but that's probably not it...

MJS:

Bzzt! Wrong! Off to the nether darkness for you!

Polanski's Ninth Gate?

sk:

Death was far grander in an even more obscure movie than Bergman's attempt at it.

sk:

A poet whom you who would no doubt tear to pieces for being "a shallow glib German"?

LorenzoStDuBois:

Not obscure, but now I'm thinking of the Shining. Nice picture.

Was it either The Green Berets or Eraserhead? Maybe Love Story?

op:

the picture is no clue

think squires and parsons

I doubt this is it but it still looks like a cool movie.

Squires and parsons. Bankers and antiquarians.

Winstanley?

MJS:

Hint: the image is misleading. Concentrate on the phrase "bit of an antiquarian". I think even Owen has misremembered it.

JUST GIVE US THE FUCKING ANSWER ALREADY! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T HANDLE IT!!!!!!!

Note also that comments with three or more links may be held for "moderation" -- a strange term to apply to the ghost in this blog's machine. Seems to be a hard-coded limitation of the blog software, unfortunately.
