Peace, shmeese

By Michael J. Smith on Monday November 10, 2008 07:55 PM

The mental Babylonian captivity of many Lefties by Obamadulation continues, with richly humorous results.

One of my lefty mailing lists has recently been burning up the fiber with a debate about just how bad Rahm Emanuel is. Predictably, the Obamaphiles are saying he ain't so bad -- one earnest fellow even went so far as to say that Rahm's views, far from being Likudnik, were closer to Peace Now.

Turns out there may be more to this than I would have thought, though not in quite the same sense that Rahmbama's defense attorney intended. Here's a snippet from Peace Now's position paper on the infamous Israeli apartheid wall:

At the present stage in the conflict the fence is a necessity, however Peace Now believes that this fence should run only or as close as possible along the Green Line....
Disappointing -- Israeli liberals, it seems, can be as feeble, wishy-washy, and yes-butnik as American ones.

well if you want to see a professional liberal engaging in hysterical wishful thinking, check out amy goodman's interview with katrina vanden heuvel at democracynow. she's absolutely delusional. i guess that's what it takes to get a job over at the nation these days though...

Ajit:

I have been reading too many "Open Letters to Obama" nowadays from Leftists and Liberals. All of them implore him to do this and that. Poor suckers simply don't get that Oblahblah doesn't give a shit to any of them. All he wanted is the Presidency and he got it.

I sometimes think how come so many life long leftists can be fooled by this conman from chicago.

I am sure this Obamamania will continue for the next 8 years. He will spit at these people and leftists will say it's raining.

There is one such guy named Al Giordano who runs The Field blog at Narconews.com. He always manages to see the silver lining in everything Oblahblah does. He even managed to praise Biden when he was named Vice President.

Look at this by Giordano.

" I think the two of them are going to get along splendidly, and have a lot of infectious fun using John McCain as a punching bag. Apollo Creed has now signed on as coach and sparring partner with Rocky Balboa. Multi-racial class warfare - there's a place for us, somewhere a place for us - now becomes the wedge against the millionaire McCain."

and this glorious quote

"And my working class soul is actually looking forward to the populist campaign that will come out of the unlikely alliance of two guys from humble beginnings against the owners of this coal mine called America."

There is no shortage of willing suckers as you can see in the comments section of this entry.

dermokrat-

Excellent notice of Katrina vanden Heuvel, but you might want to know that she is the publisher of the mag her own damn self - her father was a high muckety muck in NYC circles, and she used her family bajillions to buy the little struggler. I would think she sees herself on basically Joan of Arc terms now, with all that and a few extra features going for her...

Note also that comments with three or more links may be held for "moderation" -- a strange term to apply to the ghost in this blog's machine. Seems to be a hard-coded limitation of the blog software, unfortunately.
