Dems vs. DOOM

Ya know, I was getting kind of worried about what mischief the democrats might be up to since the election. So you can just imagine my relief when I ran across this news item:

Clinton, Lieberman 'team-up' with gaming industry to tackle video game violence

Concerned about violence in video games aimed at teenagers and young children, Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), along with the president of the gaming industry's Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), announced the launching of a new nationwide television public service announcement campaign at a press conference held on Capitol Hill this afternoon.

Rowan:

You know, I also hear that comic books cause violence. And have you seen these new "talkie" movies? Crazy!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go develop nuclear weapons in Civilization 4 so I can bomb some Arabs and take their oil to fuel my war machine. Rated E for everyone - there's no blood, just war for resources!

So, once again, creaky old Democrats can't find anything better to involve themselves in than bitching about violent video games. In other words, the same old shit. Kick and scream about pretend violence while the state you serve perpetuates real violence.

Sad, really, how the Democrats, despite the resources at their command, seem to have even fewer original ideas than pretty much every season of SNL after Belushi died.

Remember Hillary's Columbine speech, about the "culture of violence" -- about a week, week and a half after the release of a fighter cockpit video from the 'humanitarian intervention' in Serbia featuring the bombing of a commuter train?

Who do you think will be chosen to play Hillary in the Stephen Spielberg adaptation of "It Takes A Village", to be released just in time for the Democrapic Convention?

" Kick and scream about pretend violence

hey the liberal mind is complex

"not all problems are best solved by violence "

you gotta know when to hold em

know when to fold

know when to make your play

and go get your gun

Good old DOOM! A bright spot in the Clinton years.

As a further measure of Dem cluelessness, it has to be observed that they are pushing Puritanism at a time when video gaming has taken a decidedly right wing turn.

The old monster narrative with an anti-authoritarian twist found in movies like Alien and up through early 90s games (recall: DOOM's premise is that profiteers have poked the wrong Pandora's box) is all but gone.

Today's gaming enemies are less likely to be creatures that spilled out of a lab at SlaveTek, Inc., than "terrorists" who are identifiably South American, African, South East Asian or Middle Eastern, whom you mop up in Pentagon-approved fashion, as in the CIA-themed "Just Cause." Or you can reenact the storming of Normandy (but never the roasting of Dresden). When man-made slaughter isn't enough, there are the Left Behind games.

So even in this vain attempt to appeal to NASCAR, Dems miss the plot. Wal-Mart America, rioting and shooting itself to celebrate the release of the PS3 recently, isn't asking for fewer opiates, and what it's playing to go with the meth is straight out of the Democratic platform.

lovely line .....

though if you're
leaflet-ing run
plans on targeting
wall mart /nascar locales
ie
centers of mass purchase
or spectacle troughs
i submit you're off base

forget hitting this crowd
when it's in consumption mode
unless you "strafe "
the electronics shop-ing lines
at just the right moment

i suggest as an alternative

dump your payload on
places of mass desperation...(of the 'forced' to be quiet type)

the
"its just another shitty job "
sites
where these folks build the pain in the body parts that needs relief
cause its there they
can effectively
tap their desire for empowering liberation

strike at the 666 er
dead in its profit center

My money's on Shakira.
